Erika Polanco

Erika is a second-year medical student at Wayne State School of Medicine in Detroit, MI. She grew up in Southern California where she attended University of California, Irvine as an undergrad, majoring in Business Economics. Erika grew up playing soccer until tearing her ACL in high school and MCL in college. After college, she fell in love with different types of fitness competitions and has participated in multiple half-marathons, marathons and NPC bodybuilding competitions. Erika believes exercise is important not only for physical well-being but for mental health as well, and is excited to bring Medicine in Motion to Wayne State!

Emily Lau

Emily is a third-year medical student at Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. After graduating from Drexel University in 2018 with a BS in Biological Sciences, Emily headed straight to Detroit for med school to embrace the diverse learning environment and begin advocating for minority populations in medicine. Fitness has been integral to Emily’s life as she began swimming at age 8 years old and went on to swim at the Division I level in college. Emily is now training for her first Iron Man! She is looking forward to sharing enthusiasm for fitness and holistic wellness with other likeminded medical professionals and creating tangible change in student and physician burnout.

Brendan Lynch

Brendan is a third-year medical student at the Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit Michigan. All of his life his top hobbies had always revolved around sports of any kind. After completing his college athletics career and moving on to medical school he had to find way to get creative to remain active and have fun. Since that time he has developed a new passion for fitness, wellness and self-care. Being able to share these passions with his colleagues and the community is truly an honor for him.
