RACE WEEKEND IS HERE! (11/8/19)

I hope everyone is excited for a great weekend. The race is right around the corner and I want to give you some info to make sure everything goes smoothly:

WHAT TO BRING:
1. ID and registration barcode (find yours here services.athlinks.com/)

2. Clothes! It’ll be mid 50’s for the race, depending on your preference that could be a T shirt or a long sleeve + hat and shorts or long pants (personally I’ll be in a T shirt and shorts). Bring gear to race in AND clothes for after the race!
Our theme this race is BLACKOUT so try and a wear black clothing or gear with your school/institution on it.

3. Bag – there will be a bag drop so bring a backpack or bag to stash your stuff + clothes

4. There will be water stops on the course but if you wish you can bring a camelback/hydration pack!

WHERE TO GO:
I attached a map here with important locations on it. From either the Kenmore T stop (B, C, D green lines (NOT E)) or Fenway T stop (D green line) walk to the registration. From there continue on through Gate A to enter the “festival area” where we will be meeting.
Our meeting location is TBD but we will have our large Medicine in Motion flags and people will be out helping direct you. I will also send out a message when we have a location.

WHEN TO BE THERE:
Please try and get there 2 hours in advance! The T can be finicky and sometimes there are lines at registration/bag check so coming with plenty of time to get settled is ideal.
We will be taking a group picture at ***1:45pm*** so please be at the meeting point by then.
Start time is 2:15pm, we’ll all walk over together!

WHAT TO DO AFTER:
If you finish before 4pm, you can hang out and grab a beer in the festival area. Around 4 we will start heading over to Fenway Johnnies for the post-race social!!

I’m PSYCHED for this race! It’s going to be a great time. We have well over 100 medical students, residents, nurses and nursing students, PT, OT, dental, public health people and MORE!

Reach out to me or any of the MM Spartan team organizers if you need help with anything!

UPDATE 11/4/19:
Start time will be 2:15pm this Sunday! Please try to get to the race 1-2hrs early to make sure you have time to check in, find us, and warm up.We will be taking a GROUP PICTURE 30 minutes before race start at 1:45pm so please try and make it by then!
Our group meeting location before the race is still TBD. The venue map will come out on FRIDAY so that is when we will choose it and send it out.

Weather: Current forecast is saying it will be 50’s and cloudy – PERFECT racing conditions. Consider bringing a long sleeve and gloves, warmer clothes (AKA jacket) for after the race. Pants vs shorts will be a personal preference. There will be a bag check so you can stash clothing you’re not wearing in a bag and leave it with them.

Reminder that the POST RACE SOCIAL will be at Fenway Johnnies starting at 4pm! We will have groups heading over starting then.

I hope everyone is PSYCHED for this race!! This will be the LARGEST Medicine in Motion event yet with over 100 students and professionals coming from all over New England.
SEE YOU THERE

UPDATE 10/25/19:

Race:
The Fenway Spartan Stadion race will be 3-4 miles in length with 20 obstacles/stations along the way. While the course is meant to be challenging, people of all skill levels are HIGHLY encouraged to sign up and race! Every obstacle can be bypassed (at the price of some burpees) if you do not feel comfortable tackling it. The course will take about an hour and a half to finish and from past experience, this is NOT a muddy race.

Location:
The race will be in and around the historic Fenway stadium including finishing over home base! There is LIMITED parking at the stadium so taking public transportation is highly recommended. Take the green line (B, C, or D lines) to Kenmore station and then follow the signs. We will be organizing a group to head over together so stay tuned for updates.
