The Olympiad is a multi-sport competition aimed to raising money for our MOVE campaign charities including the NAACP LDF, National Bail Out and more. Fundraising will be tracked based on chapters; more information will be sent after participants register below. The Olympiad consists of three events: a HIIT Time Trial, 5K race, and 13.1 mile bike race. With the election around the corner and America steeped in political tumult the movement advocating for non-violent civil disobedience against police brutality remains as relevant as ever. Racial and socioeconomic inequality have been exacerbated by the global pandemic and the slowed economy, continuing to ravage the lives of millions of people. We are in a particularly poignant moment in history, a critical turning point for the United States and potentially the world.
Through all of this Medicine in Motion continues to MOVE. We refuse to remain idle in the face of ongoing inequity. We hope to make a difference by supporting the NAACP and other organizations on the forefront in the fight for social justice. With that, we would like to introduce the Medicine in Motion Olympiad, the final event of our MOVE campaign, a week-long virtual global competition featuring three events: a road race (5K distance), a bike race (13.1 miles), and a HIIT time trial (intermediate/advanced). The virtual event will be held from Saturday, November 21st, to Sunday, November 29th (the week of Thanksgiving). All fitness levels are welcome to participate, we will be stratifying the leaderboards by age group. The top finishers in each event will receive prizes (to be announced) and schools with the most participants will also be rewarded — although you need not be affiliated with an institution to participate! We ask that each of you pledge to raise a certain amount in support of the ongoing fight for social justice. We encourage you to invite your family and friends to join in on this community effort! Help us help the NAACP, National Bailout, and others continue to make a positive difference in a significant way.
