Medicine in Motion (MM) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization composed of a diverse group of healthcare providers whose mission is to address medical burnout through fitness, interdisciplinary community building, and philanthropy.

Our Roots

In its inaugural year 2017-2018, the group organized the logistics for over 100 participants to enter various running races, bike rides, triathlons, and Spartan obstacle course races. At the time, the organization’s name was the “Docs Who Lift.” By the end of the year, Docs Who Lift raised over $30,000 for the Zakim Center, a unique department at Dana Farber Cancer Institute that researches how exercise therapy can be incorporated into traditional cancer treatment.

Through its second year (2018-2019), DocsWhoLift became Medicine in Motion (MM), expanded across five medical schools, two dental schools, and seven hospitals, and became a 501(c)(3) national non-profit organization. They held 12 events and raised over $15,000 for Autism Speaks and partners, were featured in six news articles, and were awarded the 2019 Harvard Medical School Dean’s Community Service Award.

The founders of the organization are as follows: Logan Briggs, Katie Lantz, Chase Marso, Mike Seward, and Derek Soled. Logan, Chase, Mike, and Derek are MD candidates at Harvard Medical School and part of the Class of 2021. Katie Lantz is a 2015 graduate of Harvard College. Together, they founded the organization and currently serve as Co-Presidents.
